The following was my reply to a guy who posted a query at the FootBuddiesMessageBoard, asking if his foot fetish was a bad thing (I guess someone who does not share his fetish recently made fun of him and he felt bad about his desires.) Let me know what you guys think. I wanna hear from ya.

I'm going to try to toss in my two cents, and I want to apologize if I'm inarticulate or if I step on anyone's toes. My perspective is a little different. There are many things that turn me on about men's bodies (and even women’s to an extent.) I loves me a nice man foot. But I've also dated guys whose feet did nothing for me, but plenty else about them did so it was all good. And women love a little foot action, and most will even be more accepting than men on a spontaneous level (as long as you give the rest of their bodies equal attention as well, but I digress.)
Foot Fetish is truly a multi-faceted thing, and for some it's the only kind of sexual stimulation they seek. That's not a bad thing. But I DO feel like keeping a perspective on your fetish is important. Despite the fact it's been said that foot fetish is the most common fetish men display, you're still going to be in the minority. Unfortunately, that's just life. Also, most people have negative reinforcement their whole lives about feet in general. Feet are ugly. Feet stink. Feet touch the ground and stay in shoes all day and are therefore germy. Never mind the fact that a foot that comes out of a shoe probably has less germs that the human mouth, hand or crotch. It's what most people believe.
PERSPECTIVE 1: Don't confuse real life with your foot fetish fantasy.

We've made something erotic out of an act that most people do daily and don't think much about: taking off your shoes and socks and being barefoot for comfort (i.e. sometimes your drinking buddy likes taking off his shoes and socks while he knocks back a couple because he wants to relax.) Remember this isn't always an invitation for foot play. A cigar is sometimes just a cigar. Be careful to not read too much into the various foot displays you'll encounter as you live your life.
PERSPECTIVE 2: Don't become the creep that everyone talks about.
PERSPECTIVE 2: Don't become the creep that everyone talks about.
One of the fun benefits about being into feet is we can get a sexual charge in places or situations that most people would never consider. For myself, seeing what someone's feet look like can be just as intimate as seeing them nude. I do enjoy looking... but just like "checking out" any guy, learn the art of subtly as you go about checking out feet. Don't become a creep with the reputation of obviously gawking at bare feet at the pool, park or locker room. Don’t be the guy everyone avoids because you’re obvious fixation has made everyone nervous. Don't become these three people:
TRUE CREEP STORY 1- There was a coffee shop that I used to frequent, and the barista on two separate visits made comments about my flips. Recognizing the signs, we met up on his off day for coffee (somewhere else.) He confessed to me he had been fired from his previous job for his foot fetish. He seemed to be in denial about it, insisting that they must have fired him for “other reasons.” But the minute I heard his story I knew they had fired him for just that very reason... because he couldn't keep his mouth shut. Look at how we met in the first place; he commented about my feet. Twice. He lucked out with me, meeting another dude who was into it. But how many other comments had he made to people who weren't? And how many of these foot comments had been overheard by his fellow employees?
He also told another story about these two college students who always came in. One day, both of them came in and one of them had both his dirty, obviously worn socks laying over his shoulder. Well, the barista was so stunned that he actually didn’t say anything. The guy with the socks got his drink and sat down to join his friend. A second later, his friend came bounding up to the barista and basically chewed him out for not commenting about the socks because “you always say stuff about our shoes and I had a bet you’d do it about the socks too! Next time we come in, you’d BETTER say something or I’m gonna loose another bet!” See? He had made so many comments about the feet of his customers it became something of a joke with these two college kids. No wonder he had been fired at his last job for his foot fetish. This was someone who had allowed their fetish to become such an obsession that they had lost work because of it. And that's never good.
TRUE CREEP STORY 2, via Dan Savage’s Sex Advice Column- A couple of years ago a woman wrote in to tell about a drunken overnight party she regularly attends with several pals. Many of them bunked in the living room after the party wound down. She woke up in the middle of the night to see one of her guy friends standing on the edge of the sofa jerking off at the feet of her boyfriend, who was in a drunken deep sleep and whose naked feet were dangling over the edge. Horrified, she lay their frozen. Well, they guy came, wiped himself off with a pair of socks, (she never said whose) and crawled back to his spot and fell asleep. Her boyfriend never work up during the whole scene, and she was genuinely freaked out by what she had witnessed. She was torn and not sure if she should tell her BF or not. She was also wandering what the whole thing meant, even going so far as to ask Dan Savage if maybe the guy was so drunk he didn’t know were he was. Dan replied that while he’s a raging fetishist, he can’t support somebody engaging in a sex act with another person who isn’t awake to give consent. Dan replied that if he was aiming specifically for the feet, then he wasn’t drunk enough to not know what he was doing, but probably just drunk enough to be uninhibited doing it in a room full of sleeping people. He then suggested that she take measure to ensure the guy never gets invited back again.
TRUE CREEP STORY 3, and this one is not about feet. I do contract work, and was hired on with several other people for a gig that lasted a few weeks. A sheet with the personal contact information of my fellow workers was given out at orientation, and it included numbers and e-mails.

One guys e-mail caught my eye: ltrhungtop12@blahblah.com. Wow. Hung Top 12? Really. TMI, right? This guy couldn't even be bothered to open a professional e-address for work reasons. The final day of work for all of us came with a nice wrap party in the evening. Prospective partners of the employees were invited. Well, this guy shows up with his slave. His SLAVE. On a leash. And he makes this guy get him food. And then makes the slave sit at his feet while he eats that food. After finishing, he "allowed" his slave to get up and get some food for himself. As you can imagine a lot of people left pretty fast. By bringing his slave to this soirée, he was forcing, FORCING every person in that room to be a part of his sexual fantasy ,whether they wanted to or not.
I'm no prude- I'm open to pretty much anything that can occur between two (or more) healthy, consenting adults. Just like the rest of the human body, feet are beautiful. Celebrate that. But know there's a time and place for your fetishes. Some people never learn to distinguish that.
